Overview
Dragon carries astronauts and cargo to the International Space Station and back, splashing down under parachute for full reuse. It's the only U.S. spacecraft currently certified to fly crew, and the cargo variant returns science and hardware that would otherwise be lost.
What sets it apart
Launch abort system
SuperDraco thrusters can pull the crew capsule away from a failing rocket at any point from the pad to orbit.
Autonomous docking
Dragon finds and docks with the ISS on its own, using onboard sensors, with the crew able to take over manually if needed.
