OVERVIEW

Awards two-year grants to independent researchers working on problems adjacent to our ventures - batteries, materials science, and orbital mechanics - with no obligation to commercialize. Funding is unrestricted by design: recipients decide how to allocate it across salary, equipment, and collaborators, and retain full rights to anything they publish or patent. The program exists specifically to fund the early, unproven-idea stage of research that traditional grant bodies are typically too risk-averse to back.
