The thesis

Tesla designs and manufactures electric vehicles on a shared platform updated continuously over the air, spanning performance sedans to full-size utility trucks. Full Self-Driving is scaling toward wider autonomous release across supported regions, with Tesla Energy and Optimus operating as sibling ventures under the same engineering org.

Model S

Three motors split power front and rear independently, putting 1,020 hp down without breaking traction.

Model 3

New features, performance tweaks, and safety improvements ship to the car overnight, the same as a phone.

Model Y

Rear seats fold flat from the trunk or the touchscreen, turning a five-seat SUV into a cargo van in seconds.

Cybertruck

The body panels are the frame - ultra-hard 30X cold-rolled stainless steel replaces a conventional painted shell.

Milestones
2012

Model S deliveries begin

The first vehicle built entirely on Tesla's own platform, setting the template - over-the-air updates, a central touchscreen, and a shared battery architecture - for everything that followed.

2017

Model 3 reaches volume production

A lower-priced, higher-volume vehicle brought electric performance to a much wider buyer base, eventually becoming one of the best-selling vehicles in the world regardless of powertrain.

2023

Cybertruck deliveries begin

A structural stainless-steel exoskeleton replaced the conventional stamped-and-painted body, a manufacturing approach with no direct precedent in mass-market vehicles.

Model S

Model S pairs a tri-motor powertrain with a cabin built around a 17-inch driver display and rear-seat entertainment screen. It's the flagship sedan the rest of the lineup is benchmarked against - quickest to 60, longest range, quietest cabin.
